The second day of Open, Cinch Intermediate Open, Limited Open and Level 1 Limited Open preliminary competition at the National Reined Cow Horse Association Snaffle Bit Futurity is complete in Reno, Nev. Smooth Classical (Smooth As A Cat x Classical CD x CD Olena), shown by NRCHA Million Dollar Rider Todd Bergen, Eagle Point, Ore., and owned by Pam Bailey, Golden, Colo., maintained his lead in the Open. While his high 222 score from Monday remained untouchable, there were plenty of big runs at the Reno Livestock Events Center.

A pair of 219.5 scores were the highest of Tuesday’s herd work prelims. One belonged to Call Me Mitch (Metallic Cat x Miss Hickory Hill), shown by Phillip Ralls for owner Estelle Roitblat.They are currently second in the Futurity Open herd prelims. The other 219.5 score came from Shiney Delight (CD Lights x Shinersdiamondjackie), shown by Justin Wright and owned by Mark and Kelly Gowing. The pair leads the Futurity Intermediate Open division. Wright also marked a 219 on CR Stylish Danny Ray (Dual Rey x Flyin Stylish) to also own the second place spot on the current Intermediate Open board. Wright is pictured riding CR Stylish Danny Ray.

In the Limited Open herd work prelims, two horses sired by Rey Boon Lena, both shown by Robert Forst, finished first and second in that division. Seven S Lena Boon (Rey Boon Lena x Seven S Valentina) scored a 217.5 to become the current Limited Open leader. Meanwhile, Seven S Lena Cash (Rey Boon Lena x Oleana Cash) is sitting second in t he Limited with a 215.5. Both horses are bred and owned by RT Stuart Ranch.

The Level 1 Limited Open leader is Call Me Rey (Dual Rey x Meradas Style). With Clayton Anderson in the saddle, he impressed the judges to the tune of a 214.5. Call Me Rey is owned by Jayson Hays.
