The National Reined Cow Horse Association Derby, the largest event for 4- and 5-year-old cow horses, kicked off Monday, June 10 in Paso Robles, Calif., with the first phase of preliminary competition, the herd work.
Working second-to-last in the final set of the evening on Monday, Snowville, Utah, professional Brandon Buttars guided High Roller Rey (Dual Rey x Peptos Royal 01 x Peptoboonsmal) to a 223, the top score in the Open division.
The 4-year-old stallion is owned by Davis Bros. Performance Horses.
