Day 7 ~ 2015 Snaffle Bit Futurity

Horse show classes filled up the schedule at the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, as Champions were crowned in the Non Pro Limited, Non Pro Bridle, and the Run To Reno. We also go behind the scenes with the “trainer’s trainer,” NRCHA Hall of Fame horseman Don Murphy. It’s all in the Sunday edition of the Reno Wrap Up!

Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro & Novice Non Pro Bridle

Osceola, Nebraska, non pro Terra Micek arrived in Reno with just over $1,200 in NRCHA money on her show record. Her earnings received a huge boost when she rode Nic N Chics (Nic It In The Bud x Desire A Chic x Smart Chic Olena) to a clean sweep of the Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro and Novice Non Pro Bridle classes, earning three checks totaling $7,311. Micek also took home a Bob’s Custom Saddle, three Gist buckles, and product from Platinum Performance and Santa Cruz Animal Health.

Non Pro Limited

The Non Pro Limited Champion was Alyson Rodges, who guided Repeat Plan (A Master Plan x Lenas Solana x Docs Hi Lena) to a 293.5 composite (146.5 rein/147 cow). Rodges took home a check for $1,265, along with a Bob’s Custom Saddle sponsored by the Santa Ynez Cow Horse Classic; a Gist custom buckle; and product from Platinum Performance.

$5,000 Non Pro Limited

In the $5,000 Non Pro Limited, Hope Miller rode Smart Shiney Pistol (Smart Chic Olena x Shiners Lil Pistol x Shining Spark) to the top of the class, scoring a 290.5 (145 rein/145.5 cow). She also won home a Bob’s Custom Saddle sponsored by the Santa Ynez Valley Cow Horse Classic, a Gist buckle from the NRCHA and product from Platinum Performance.

Run to Reno – Boxing

The Run to Reno boxing champion was Tori Simons, who rode Nics Back In Black (Nic It In The Bud x Shinersdiamondjackie x Shining Spark) to a 144.5 score, winning $1,000 and a Gist buckle.

Run to Reno – Fence 

The Run to Reno fence work champion was Douglas Granade, who rode Wright On Ned (Lenas Wright On x Smart Sally x Smart Chic Olena) to a 148 score, winning $1,000 and a Gist buckle.
