Erin Taormino
From a farm in Saskatchewan, Canada, to the top ranks of cow horse, Erin Taormino has followed her dreams with a dogged pursuit. Today, she is one of the top riders in the industry, and a household name to fans of the sport.
She began her horseback journey in 4-H, competing in local events and then at the prestigious All-American Quarter Horse Congress. When she turned her competitive goals from youth events toward a career, she learned under NRCHA Hall of Fame trainer Ron Ralls and NRCHA Two Million Dollar Rider Todd Bergen before stepping out on her own as the resident trainer at Gardiner Quarter Horses in Ashland, Kansas.
At the 2015 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity®, a monster 228 down the fence helped Taormino and Plain Wright (Hes Wright On x Isabellena x Smart Little Lena) earn the Open Reserve Champion win. Today, the horsewoman has added several more titles to her resume, including many aboard Linda Mars’ roan stallion Hazardouz Material (Metallic Cat x Scooters Daisy Dukes).
The pair won the 2020 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Intermediate Open, the 2021 NRCHA Hackamore World Champion title, the 2021 NRCHA Stallion Stakes Open Champion title, and qualified for the 2022 The Run For A Million Cow Horse Challenge.
Taormino lives and works in Lipan, Texas, with her husband, Anthony, and son Westley. Anthony puts a strong foundation on the young horses in their program while Taormino continues their careers into the show pen.
